Get out of the house! Live entertainment is back and it’s BIG, as in great music and super cinema. Three scheduled ‘Picks & Flicks’ live concert/big screen events are set to rock the Oxford Drive-In – County Road 68 – just west of Woodstock. The kick-off concert and film duo will take the stage – Sun. Aug 23rd with headliner band Full Petty Fever followed by the ‘flick’ Echo in the Canyon (Five star reviews). We’re raising awareness to support the ongoing work of the Canadian Mental Health Association – Oxford.
Picks & Flicks organizers are committed to the entertainment industry. They understand the need for viable venues with ample space with inherent safety protocols for fans and families as they navigate the challenges of Covid-19 restrictions. Putting the two together has returned to the community, what Ticketwindow President, Paul Rivard believes, is the magic and power of ‘live’ events. He says, “Something awesome happens when musicians and music fans meet. The energy, the excitement brings everyone’s mood up. Music is a universal language of hope and happiness and we all need that. There are still memories to be made and good times to be had. So – we’ve partnered with like-minded businesses and sponsors to open the gates and have some summer fun.”
Spokesperson for the CMHA- Oxford, Kathlene Campbell-Conlon agrees. “CMHA – Oxford is proud to be involved with “Picks & Flicks” at The Oxford Drive In. The pandemic has caused intense stress and disruption for everyone in our community and is causing pronounced mental health concerns which are amplified through isolation and physical distancing. Donations raised at this event will support CMHA Oxford’s highest need programs. These programs are offered free but do not receive government funding: they rely on community donations and fundraisers.”
Tickets for Picks & Flicks outdoor series are available on Ticketwindow.ca. Pricing is by the car – up to 6 persons allowed per vehicle and preferred parking spots are available. Tickets MUST be purchased online prior to the event. No gate sales. Concessions will be open and following ALL COVID-19 protocols – of masks and social distancing. Signage will be in place and guests will be asked to respect requests.
